Legal Help for Non-Profit Organizations
Solicitors’ Program
The Solicitors’ Program is designed to facilitate the provision of specific pro bono legal services to charitable and non-profit community organizations of limited means. We invite requests for assistance either by phone or via forms provided below, and then endeavour to match each request to a roster lawyer within workable reach. Our staff screen requests for eligibility, connect community organizations to lawyers, and provide ongoing support and resources to roster lawyers. Roster lawyers provide legal advice and assistance to community organizations in all areas of non-profit law, including incorporation and by-laws, registrations for charitable status, employment matters, contracts and lease agreements.

Non-Profit Law Seminars
We work with local community hosts to put on half-day and one-day information seminars for local not-for-profits on legal topics such as charity law and policy, incorporating, directors’ liability, and employment law. These sessions are open to board and management staff. We announce date and location detals at our website and by announcement to local organizations. Sessions are put on by experienced lawyers. Phone our business line (604-482-3195) for more details.
Community Partnership Manual
We also offer our Community Partnership Manual in PDF format. The Manual outlines the steps for creating and sustaining a pro bono partnership between a community group and a law firm, modeled on the successful partnership between the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, BC Division and Davis & Company.
