Lawyer Referral Service

APB's Lawyer Referral Service helps British Columbians of any income to find a suitable lawyer to serve their legal needs. Any member of the public may call the Lawyer Referral Service to contact a lawyer who will meet for up to a half-hour of free legal consultation.

Any BC resident may access our Lawyer Referral Service by:

–> emailing lawyerreferral[at]accessprobono.ca;

–> calling 1-800-663-1919 or 604-687-3221 (in Metro Vancouver) from Monday to Friday–8:30am to 5:00pm; or

–> clicking the “CREATE AN ACCOUNT” button (below) to book a free consultation with a lawyer if they:

               • Have a FAMILY LAW issue;

               • Have the ability to pay for a lawyer’s services;

               • Are willing to work with a lawyer by phone or videoconference; and

               • Can communicate in English.

FOR CLIENTS, this is how the service works:

1. Call APB’s Lawyer Referral Service line to speak to an operator, OR request an online referral via the buttons above.

2. Briefly explain your situation and our staff or online system will provide you with the name and contact information of a suitable lawyer.

3. If schedules allow, the lawyer will provide you up to a half hour of in-person consultation free of charge, to determine your legal needs and how you may resolve them.

4. If you’d like further help from the lawyer, you may retain them at an agreeable rate of charge. There is no obligation for either party to continue after the free Lawyer Referral Service consultation.

APB’s Lawyer Referral Service is not to be confused with legal aid. In BC, legal aid is provided exclusively by Legal Aid BC to British Columbians on very low income who qualify for their services.

FOR LAWYERS in good standing with the Law Society of BC:
